Chris Hines is an experienced campaigner and speaker for environmental issues and sustainability.
He was co-founder and director of Surfers Against Sewage from 1990-2000. SAS were described by BBC News and Current Affairs as: “Some of the Government’s most sophisticated environmental critics.” And by the Independent newspaper as: “Britain’s coolest pressure group.” In 1998 Chris was called as a special adviser to the Minister for the Environment. SAS helped deliver a £5 billion spend on the clean-up of the UK coastline.
From 2001 – 2007 he was Sustainability Director at the Eden Project where he conceived and implemented the Waste Neutral concept and ensured that sustainability was always on the agenda!
Chris is now a free agent working with companies, organisations and individuals who really do want to Make A Difference to the world in which we all live. He is available as a motivational and inspirational speaker and as an adviser on all aspects of campaigning, PR and communications, sustainability, eco design, waste management, organisational management, and events management.
Chris was awarded an MBE for services to the environment in the Queen's Birthday Honours list 2008.
